I think I have a thing for pops of color against white backgrounds. I also find myself veering towards the color red. It just looks so good on camera but I think I should focus on different colors now.
I’m really loving my studio lighting class in school because I get to have access to the studios and equipment! Maybe I will just stay a student for as long as I can so I can have all this access without having to pay to rent a studio and buy equipment. I think now that I’ve had all this equipment to play with, I’ve been focusing on beauty shots. I can’t help it. You can get amazing photos with simple lighting techniques. Not saying my photos are amazing but you get what I’m saying.
On another note, I’m starting to get used to setting up lights even though some times I space out and wonder what the next step is.

Since I always have to take set-up shots of my assignments, I thought I would upload it here so you can see how simple the lighting really is!

It’s just one soft box 45˚ from her and another light on the background. I used the Profoto 1200 pack and was wondering how much it costs and found out it was $3,555 … So I guess I will be wanting to be a student for as long as I can. By the way, that is an apple box where my camera is on and yes, I do stand on it because I’m short. I have another shoot tomorrow where I have to use a heavy duty boom; that thing is so huge, I hope I don’t break anything with my lack of experience working with it.
